Maintenance
Maintenance is a fancy word for “taking care of something in order to keep it around a lot longer”. When we go through life as living beings, we experience several kinds of experiences, some of them are good for our bodies and minds, others are plain destructive!
According to Merriam Webster dictionary “maintain” means:
to keep in an existing state (as of repair, efficiency, or validity) : preserve from failure or decline

As adults-to-be, you need to realize that we all have the responsibility (regardless of what your age is!) to maintain our bodies and minds and when we fail to do so, we will pay the price later on (and more often than not, friends and family pay that price along with you!).
Now most people would think that it’s only their problem if they neglect themselves. No. Its not.
As an Adult born in a specific society (most may not realize this) it is your civilian duty that when you’re not okay, you either find a way to recover on your own, or if you really don’t know where to start, seek professional help!
It literally is your civilian duty!

Maintenance warns about having to survive
If you can’t maintain your body or mind, you’re surviving.
Depending on where you live, these rules might look very different. Usually in more liberal societies, taking care of yourself is promoted a lot more than societies where that’s not the case.
Regardless, there’s an extra argument as to why you should never neglect your body and mind and always check whether you successfully maintained both: if you have a reason to hate the world, any reason at all, chances are you’re severely under maintained. There’s a reason why you hate the world and it’s probably because you’re in survival mode.
People who are in survival-mode, hate the world and usually for very good reasons. The world they live in, is crap. They’re just not telling you the bullshit they had to endure in order to come to that conclusion. While it sounds very much like victim blaming, I’m sad to inform you, you’re the only one who can do the surviving and the cease your suffering (in fact, as adults, its expected from us!).
Survival mode kicks in when you lack the necessary resources to fulfill your (civilian or other(s) such as maintenance) duty. Basically Survival-mode is a response to having an unstable resource-pool. One that you can’t rely on. One that isn’t secure. Connections such as family and friends are also considered resources, if you’re surrounded with crappy connections, there’s your first hint: find better connections. Is it the environment you’re in that is drab? Change environment and so and so forth.
If you’re in survival mode, I urge you to become as independent as possible (surviving has no age-limit), you need to get out of survival-mode before you burnout completely! Survival-mode is your biggest enemy as a living being! You want to do everything to avoid falling in this modus and the way to check this is by maintaining yourself and keeping your resources in check.
Easier said than done of course!
Surviving is the opposite of Resourced: the key to escaping survival-mode
The key to escape survival-mode is by building up your “wishing well”.
The downside of having to do this, is that it takes time. Meaning you’ll need to survive a little longer before you see the results. The upside is, once you know how to built said “wishing well”, you’ll never have to worry about surviving ever again, even if you lose everything again the next day! Nobody can steal other people’s skills and knowledge. This on its own is a resource-skill!
So, Survivalist, if you go to the adult skill tree, you need to focus on the red zone first. You won’t be able to work on maintenance or development anyway due to lack of resources.
Maintenance can ONLY happen, once you feel and are SAFE! Development can ONLY happen when maintenance occurs regularly!
